ACAL (Association of Child Abuse Lawyers)

The Association of Child Abuse Lawyers is a company limited by guarantee set up for the benefit of lawyers, experts and other professionals involved in the field of obtaining compensation for the physical, sexual or emotional abuse of children and adults abused in childhood. ACAL holds a national database of solicitors working for abuse survivors. All solicitors on ACAL’s database are required to have undergone appropriate training. The ACAL website is an excellent source of legal information and cases and contains relevant updated news items.

Addiction Resource

The Ann Craft Trust (ACT)

The Ann Craft Trust is a UK based organisation working with staff in the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors to protect people with learning disabilities who may be at risk from abuse. We also provide advice and information to parents and carers who may have concerns about someone that they are supporting.

Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)

The association of Personal Injury Lawyers is a professional body for lawyers working with victims of Accidents and Clinical Negligence. Over 5,000 solicitors and barristers work with the association to fight for law reform to improve access to justice. Although APIL cannot offer legal advice or guidance they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Specialist therapy service for men and women adult victims of childhood abuse within a peaceful, respectful and healing environment.

Axis Counselling

BASPCAN (The British Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect)

A registered charitable association with a multi-professional membership which aims to prevent physical, emotional and sexual abuse and neglect of children and to promote the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of children and their rights as citizens, through multi disciplinary collaboration, education, and campaigning and other appropriate activities within its powers including the publication of a peer-reviewed journal, “Child Abuse Review.”

The Birchall Trust

Confidential counselling service for male and females, children, young people and adult survivors of recent or historic rape and sexual abuse in South Cumbria and North Lancashire.

The Blue Door

The Blue Door is service that provides support to anyone that has experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence in North and North East Lincolnshire.  They offer outreach support, drop in groups, advocacy and counselling from bases in Grimsby and Scunthorpe Town Centres.

Boarding Concern

An organisation representing people who have concerns about the practice of boarding education for the young and the effect on these people as adults.

Boca Recovery Centre (USA)

This free web resource and 24/7 helpline provides information and support to people fighting physical, emotional, or sexual abuse and addiction. To cope with trauma, some victims turn to druges and alcohol. Their missions is to be a support resource for those coping with these issues. Professional counselling service for females of sexual abuse and rape.

The Bridgeway

The Bridgeway is a dedicated service that helps men, women, children and young people in Cumbria who have been raped or sexually assaulted, either recently or in the past.

BRASACC (Basingstoke Rape and Sexual Abuse Crisis Centre)

Providing telephone support and individual counselling to anyone over the age of 16 who has been raped, sexually abused or sexually assaulted at any time in their lives.

BSARCS (Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Services)

An organisation which offers a range of independent and confidential support to those who have experienced sexual abuse or rape. BSARCS provides telephone support to parents, partners, families, friends and workers from other agencies who are supporting survivors of rape and/or sexual abuse.

Cambridge Rape Crisis

Cambridge Rape Crisis is a helpline service run by women, for women and girls who have survived or are currently experiencing any form of sexual violence including rape and childhood sexual abuse.

Childline

A 24hr Free helpline for children or young people in trouble or danger.

Choices Counselling

Choices offer a confidential counselling service in Cambridge (UK) and surrounding areas for women and men whose lives are affected by childhood sexual abuse.

CRASAC (Coventry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre Ltd)

CRASAC has provided a confidential support and counselling service run by women for those who have been raped, sexually abused or assaulted. They are a free and confidential service that provides support for survivors who have experienced any kind of sexual abuse of any kind at any time in their life. Their counselling service is available to women and also to girls and boys aged 5 – 18 years. Their helpline and ISVA services are also available to men and boys.

Crisis Point

Registered company and charity providing specialist support to victims of sexual crime.

DRASACS (Doncaster Rape & Sexual Abuse Counselling Service)

An organisation with the aim of alleviating the distress and trauma experienced by those who have suffered sexual violence. Their service is open to men, women, boys and girls and is available regardless of how recent or historic incident(s) of sexual violence was/were. All of their services are free of charge and they support people regardless of police involvement.

East Kent Rape Line

Supporting survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse.

Family Matters

Fylde Coast Men’s Support Association

Manchester Rape Crisis

MRC was set up in 1976 by local women as a grass roots response to the lack of appropriate services for women who had been raped or sexually abused. MRC continues to support women who have been raped or sexually abused, including women who have been or are involved in sex work.

Mankind

Delivering specialist support services to men (18+) who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and/or adult sexual assault at any time in their lives.

The MOSAC site is designed specifically for mothers who have experienced the sexual abuse of one of their children.

New Pathways

One in Four

A charity run for and by victims of sexual abuse, One in Four offers counselling, peer support groups, and one day workshops for people who have experienced sexual abuse. One in Four also provides training for both victims and professionals likely to work with them.

Operation Emotion 

Operation Emotion is a Plymouth based user led charity that provides support to men who have been sexually abused.  It is a trauma led service, specialising in group work offering a range of clinically safe, peer led initiatives and educational programmes.  We provide three weekly support groups, one of which is online, to men from across Devon and Cornwall as well as other parts of the UK and at times across the world.   We help to tackle trauma by enabling men to talk about the consequences of sexual abuse in nonjudgmental and confidential settings.  We provide a rolling educational programme that focuses on the four traumagenic consequences of sexual abuse which are: isolation, identity, powerlessness and issues around trust and betrayal.

Safeline

Safeline is a leading specialist charity providing therapeutic and practical support for survivors and their families who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse, rape and associated issues (eg mental health, self harm, suicidal tendencies) whether historic, recent or current. Safeline works in partnership with others (eg schools, health professionals) providing complimentary care support as required where referrals come from. Self referral is an option also. Keeping people safe are what we are about.

Supporting Survivors of Abuse UK

A small group of people who have suffered abuse including partner rape, mental abuse, both physical and sexual abuse within the care system. Bringing with us an understanding of how many victims feel, and knowledge of what they maybe seeking. Working with victims in one to one sessions to help the victim/survivor understand that the abuse they have suffered is in no way their fault and they are more than the abuse.
